THERE IS AND THERE ARE
Objetivo:
Las expresiones there is y there are en inglés se usan para
señalar la existencia de un objeto, persona u animal que se encuentra en
determinado lugar. Estas expresiones traducidas significan "hay". Y
para usarlas correctamente se debe tener en cuenta el verbo to be.

This is a
shopping center. Its name is "ParkCity". There are three floors in
this shopping center. 179th Avenue is behind it and beside it there is a
parking lot.

Por eso sería incorrecto decir:

Se usa en plural para indicar que sí hay o sí existe el sustantivo
del que se está hablando. There are no puede usarse en forma de contracción:
There're , porque no puede pronunciarse.

Es la forma negativa cuando se habla en plural, indica que no hay o no
existe el objeto, animal o persona del que se hace referencia.

esta área)
Forma interrogativa
Para formular preguntas usando there is y there are, hay que tener en
cuenta si el sustantivo del que hablamos es singular o plural.
